“The world is a book, and those who do not travel only read one page.”

— Saint Augustine (Philosopher)

The number one spot on my bucket list has always been reserved for a Dubai trip and fortunately, this year, I got the chance to cross that wish off my list and visit the city of my dreams.

Dubai has bravely faced the post-pandemic challenges and struggles in the tourism sector, becoming the third-most visited city in the world with around 17 million followers. (WP Travel: Most visited cities

Now that I have witnessed the beauty of this dynamic city with my own eyes, I can understand the reason behind this comeback. In this blog, I will walk you through my memory lane and tell you about five of the most amazing places I visited in Dubai.

So, buckle up and get ready for this ride through majestic beaches, cultural activities, and the famous architechtural buildings in Dubai

1. Burj Khalifa

Burj Khalifa

Burj Khalifa is probably the first thing that comes to most of our minds when we think of places in Dubai. After all, who hasn’t heard of the tallest building in the world?

Thanks to my fascination with skyscrapers and majestic views, Burj Khalifa was the first site I visited after landing in Dubai. Standing in the elevator to the 148th floor, I could only think about the time when I first saw the pictures of that place as a kid and how it had been engraved in my mind since then.

As soon as the door opened, the scenery from the decks of observation, 828 meters above the ground, took my breath away.

I spent my evening there, soaking in the calm and warmth of seeing the sunset from such an altitude, the beautiful gardens surrounding the area, and the entertainment offered by the Dubai fountain took this whole experience to another level.

DO YOU KNOW?
It might be hard for you to believe, but Dubai had only one skyscraper in 1991. Cut to today, it is famous for its iconic skyline, including some of the tallest and most technologically advanced skyscrapers in the world

2. Palm Jumeirah

Palm Jumeirah

Palm Jumeirah or palm island is truly one of the biggest creations of mankind is an artificial island in the shape of a palm tree. I reached there through a boat that allowed me to have a fantastic view of the whole palm shape and the surrounding area.

The luxurious hotels, sandy beaches, and waterfront villas were spellbinding. I participated in various water activities, once satisfied with all the adventures, I took my time to relax and enjoy the spectacular view of the skyline of Dubai while walking along the curvature of the Palm.

Also, how could I leave this place before experiencing the famous helicopter tour? For me, that ride was the highlight of this place, offering an easily recognizable view of the island’s unique shape.

3. Dubai Mall

Dubai Mall

The shopaholic in me went crazy once I reached the Dubai mall. It really shows how much the city loves grandiosity as entertainment in what is primarily just a shopping mall.

Never in my wildest dream had I thought that a shopping mall would have 1200 shopping outlets, but not only that but also an Olympic-sized Ice Rink. And how can I forget the largest aquarium and the underwater zoo, that made me feel like nothing less than a mermaid from Disney?

Not to mention the variety of stuff there was extraordinary, the traditional souks were selling regional jewelry and crafts, while Fashion Avenue in the mall showcased the most renowned brands in the globe.

I spend half of my day there, exploring this shopping wonderland with its many food options and entertainment places.

DO YOU KNOW?
You must remember the huge impact the Coronavirus pandemic had on our lives. Well, it also led to a significant decrease in the number of tourists visiting Dubai in 2020, falling up to 68% compared to the pre-pandemic times. But in 2022, the number again rose, and this positive trend is continuing.

How many tourists visit Dubai each year.

4. Gold Souk

Gold Souk

To get the real essence of Arabian culture and hostility, I decided to take a stroll in Dubai’s historic district Gold Souk.  It provides a window into the city’s long history of trade.

I found hundreds of merchants offering gold, diamonds, and other precious stones at affordable rates in this vibrant marketplace, and they were enough to force me to go overboard with my budget.

I was mesmerized by the beautiful window decorations of necklaces, rings, and trinkets glistening in the desert sun as the stores lined the small roads. It is a very unique experience for me to wander through these old lanes, haggle with vendors, and see the customary method of commerce.

5. Desert Safari

Desert Safari

There was no way I would visit Dubai and leave without spending some time in the magical Arabian desert. Even though I was running on a tight schedule, I went for tract sand boarding, camel riding, and dune bashing as I tended into the sand dunes. This thrill and exhilarating ride had me laughing and screaming in delight.

Spontaneous and traditional are the commitments awakening as the sun sets, the entertainment enjoying a feast under the starlights, and the performance of the so famous belly dance together with Arabic music.

The extra dosage of feel and adventure made this voyage such a unique opportunity experience.

Conclusion

After witnessing this beautiful and dynamic city and experiencing the wonders it has to offer, I can say that Dubai has seriously created a destination that has something to offer everyone by embracing modern growth and skillfully preserving its historical culture at the same time.

To be honest, these five spots hardly scratch the surface of this amazing city’s offerings. The tall buildings, camel rides, architectural masterpieces, and Arabian hospitality have left an invincible mark on my mind.

Whether you’re looking for luxury, adventure, cultural activities, or just to view amazing architecture, I can assure you that Dubai offers an amazing trip that will leave you with priceless memories.
