As per the latest reports provided, the Char Dham Yatra in famous Uttarakhand has been stopped because of a heavy rain shower.
Alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey called a temporary halt late Saturday.
He asked pilgrims to stay where they are and not travel further.The IMD said there will be heavy to very heavy rainfall in all districts of Uttarakhand on Sunday and Monday.
On July 9th, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Pauri districts experienced heavy rain. Tehri, Pauri, Bageshwar, Almora, Nainital, and Champawat will get heavy rain the next day.
Because of these warnings, Commissioner Pandey asked pilgrims not to travel beyond Rishikesh, which is the gateway to the Char Dham sites. Pilgrims should wait for better weather to continue their journey.
The Chamoli Police Department also informed the media about the heavy rain alert. They asked people not to travel unnecessarily.
The road near the Baldouda bridge ahead of Vishnu Prayag on the Badrinath National Highway is already blocked.
Due to the excessive rain, the Rudraprayag Gaurikund National Highway-107 is also closed in the Doliya Devi (Phata) area.Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has asked all district magistrates in the affected areas to stay alert.
Beyond Uttarakhand, the IMD has forecast moderate to widespread light rain, with thunderstorms and lightning, in Northwest and Central India over the next five days.
During this time, East and Northeast India experience light to moderate rainfall, as well as thunderstorms and lightning.
